BJP condemns police lathicharge, warns of intensified protest
Lucknow, Aug 13 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh today condemned the police lathicharge on its party workers while they were peacefully demonstrating yesterday against the revocation of land transfer to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and said the agitation would be intensified in the days to come.
''It was reminiscent of the British days, when the democratic agitators were crushed by the administration in the same manner as by the Mayawati government,'' BJP state president Rampati Ram Tripathi told mediapersons here.
He said over a hundred partymen were injured in the unprovoked lathicharge and it was nothing short of ''administrative terrorism''.
''The BJP strongly condemns it and calls upon its partymen to give a befitting reply to the Mayawati government,'' Mr Tripathi added.
The leader said the party would always stick to its demand to give back land to the SASB and stage demonstrations at all district headquarters tomorrow in support of the party's demand with regards to the Amarnath land row and in protest against yesterday's lathicharge.
