Siddiqui appointed as BSP general secretary

New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) Mr Shahid Siddiqui was today appointed as general secretary of the Bahujan Samaj Party.

According to a party release, Mr Siddiqui said party supremo Mayawati had also declared him the BSP candidate from Bijnore for the coming Lok Sabha elections.

Mr Siddiqui quit Samajwadi Party and joined BSP on the eve of the Manmohan Singh's government trust vote in Parliament on July 22.

Presently, he is a member of the Rajya Sabha.

Meanwhile, Lok Janshakti Party has appointed Mr Tara Singh as the party national secretary and Mr Shivraj Singh Rathore the president of Rajasthan state unit in his place.

A party release said Mr Rajiv Ranjan and Mr Satyender Kumar Ashok have been appointed as the president of LJP's youth cell and student cell respectively.
