Ramesh meets Karunanidhi, discusses hydel power projects

Chennai, Aug 9 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Commerce and Power Jairam Ramesh today called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and discussed about Hydel power projects to be set up in the Cauvery basin in the state.

Mr Ramesh, who called on the Chief Miniter at the Secretariat here, discussed about four hydel projects to be established in the Cauvery basin, on behalf of National Hydro Electric Power Corporation Limited, an official release here said.

The power projects would be set up at Sivasamudiram, Megathoothu, Hogenakkal and Rasimanal areas in the Cauvery basin, the release said.

State Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy, Public Works Minister Duraimurugan, Chief Secretary L K Tripathy and Finance Secretary K Gnanadesikan and Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) Chairman S Machendranathan were among others present in the meeting, the release added.
