Uttarakhand: 3 killed, 19 injured in bus accident

Dehra Dun, Aug 9: At least three people were killed and 19 injured when the private bus they were travelling in, crashed head on into a tree on the Sitarganj road near Shakti Farms in Kiccha area of Uddhamsinghnagar district today.

According to Uddhamsinghnagar police officials, the accident occurred around 0900 hrs when the private bus headed to Shakti Farms from Kiccha with 22 passengers crashed into a roadside tree and overturned, killing three people and leaving 19 injured.

Two people, including the conductor of the bus, died on the spot while one died at a local hospital, police officials told UNI.

Meanwhile, the condition of the driver was stated to be serious.

According to the police, break failure or steering failure may have caused the accident.
