Rare golden tortoise found in Kannur

Kannur, Aug 5 (UNI) A golden colour tortoise here today aroused the curiosity of the people of Matool central near Pazhayangadi about 25 km from here.

The rare golden tortoise (Indian soft shield turtle) was found in a paddy field.

The population of this tortoise has seen a decrease and it has been included in the Central forest act 1972-schedule one.

The District Forest Office had been informed about the rare tortoise.
