Blaming SIMI for every incident is not appropriate: Shabnam

Indore, Aug 5 (UNI) The Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) should not be blamed for every incident, opined a member of an independent fact-finding committee formed for looking into recent communal violence in Indore.

Talking to reporters here, Ms Shabnam Hashmi compared blaming SIMI after every communal incident to holding the ISI responsible for every terrorist act some years ago.

After meeting victims of communal violence, Ms Hashmi said a high-level committee headed by a judge should conduct inquiry into the incident.

She expressed apprehensions that some communal forces could disrupt peace before upcoming state assembly elections.

Ms Hashmi, who has worked in violence-affected areas in Gujarat, said she would inform the Centre about the findings of the committee.

She visited Juna Risala, Khajrana and other areas of the city.
