SIMI activist detained in Mumbai being brought to Belgaum
Belgaum, Aug 3 (UNI) A suspected SIMI activist who was on the wanted list of the district police, was 'detained' in Mumbai today and is being brought to the city for further investigations.
Superintendent of police Sonia Narang told UNI that Iqbal Jakati, who belonged to the city, was detained in Mumbai today. He was on the wanted list along with Tanvir Abdulsattar Mulla, who was arrested in the city yesterday.
"We will question this person soon after we bring him to the city," the official said.
Seven SIMI activists have already been arrested during the last three months and they include the 'kind pin' Munroz, who was arrested in Indore earlier. The others include Liyaquat Ali, Nasir Patel, Imtyaz Dalayat, Nadim and Izaz Khan. They were in judicial custody in the city. Police are in the look out for two more suspects.
The SP however said there was no evidence yet that Mulla and Jakati were connected with the serial blasts in Bangalore earlier this month.
