Notorious criminal gunned down in police encounter in UP

Agra, Aug 1 (UNI) Wanted criminal Kamal Gurjar, carrying a total reward of Rs 39,000 on his head, was killed in a fierce encounter with police in Iradat Nagar area here today.

Gurjar and his aides were surrounded by the police team in the jungles of Motipura. The outlaws opened fire on the police, but one of them died in retaliatory firing by the cops.

The deceased was identified as Gurjar, police said.

Uttar Pradesh government had announced a bounty of Rs 20,000 on him, while the Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan governments had respectively declared award of Rs 15,000 and and 4,000 on his head.

A search to nail down his aides was on.
