Honda introduces 125-CC ''CBF Stunner''
Panaji, Aug 1 (UNI) With launch of the 125-CC ''CBF Stunner'' in Goa today, the Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private Limited (HMSI) has claimed to capture 13.5 per cent market share this fiscal.
''The 125-CC two wheeler market has witnessed rapid growth for the last three years and it is considered the story of the future.
Our market share is thus poised to jump from the present 8 to 13.5 per cent this fiscal,'' the Company's finance director S Kariya told media persons at the launch ceremony.
The new bike with sharp, muscular aerodynamic DNA features, is targetted at the modern young boys, he said.
The company will be a full line company by the year 2010 by continuing to unveil more such products, even making efforts to foray into rural markets, Mr Kariya said.
Mr M Yamane, advisor, sales, HMSI, said he expected a sales turnover of 10 lakh units (seven lakh scooters and three lakh motor cycles) by this fiscal, as against the company's 1.2 million production capacity.
Replying to a question, he said there were no plans at present to manufacture 2-wheelers with non-fossil fuel usage, but concentrating more on fuel efficiency of the existing models besides bringing in innovative models.
The international fuel prices might have jacked up these days. It is a temporary phenomenon and people have been accustomed to using the fuel care and two wheelers despite the price constraint, he added.
