NCP demands resignation of all Pondy ministers

Puducherry, Jul 31 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today demanded resignation of all the ministers owing moral responsibility of bringing the administration to a standstill following their 'tussle' with the Chief Minister.

In a statement here, NCP president Sundaramurthy said it was claimed that more funds were obtained for the development of the Union Territory from the Centre this year and it was due to the collective efforts of all the ministers. However, later the ministers themselves claimed financial crisis in the Union Territory and stalled several schemes, he added.

The construction of the Government Medical College was hindered due to cost escalation from Rs 100 crore to Rs 800 crore, he said and urged the Lt Governor to intervene and complete the work of the college.

He also alleged that in nexus with the management of the private medical colleges here, the Government had deprived the poor students of their rights to pursue medical education by obtaining a lesser number of seats.

The NCP led by National Secretary G P Sarathy would organise street corner meetings here from August 5 to apprise the public of the functioning of the Government, he added.
