Workshop on tobacco control laws in Goa

Panaji, Jul 30 (UNI) Goa will host a two-day regional level workshop for western India from August, with an aim to develop proper enforcement action plan for tobacco control laws in the states and Union territories at Heritage Village club, Arossim in South Goa.

The National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE-India) General Secretary Dr Shekhar Salkar, speaking to mediapersons here today, said representatives from states of Maharastra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, Daman&Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, will participate in the workshop.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MHFW) have felt that there is a strong need to sensitize the state enforcement authorities and field level functionaries on tobacco control laws and issues, Mr Salkar said.

Besides officers concerned with the tobacco control laws, various civil society activists will also take part in the workshop. State health Minister Vishwajit Rane will inaugurate the workshop.
