Three cops injured as country bomb exploded

Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu, Jul 30 (UNI) Three police constables were injured when a notorious rowdy hurled a country- made bomb during a hot chase on the Kamudhi-Sayalkudi road at Kamudhi, near here today.

Police sources said during a routine vehicle check a history sheeter I Durai Pandi, alias Durai, was intercepted by the cops. Defying the police order, Durai did not stop his two-wheeler and sped away. However, the cops gave a hot chase to nab the culprit.

Durai hurled a country- made bomb at the cops. The bomb exploded on the road, injuring the three cops. However, he was overpowered by the police team after a struggle.

The injured policemen were treated at the government hospital at Kamudhi. Police registered a case under Tamil Nadu Explosives Act against the culprit. Further investigations were on, police added.
