Police arrests Naxalite, unearths huge arm dumps
Shimoga, Jul 30 (UNI) The Anti-Naxal Force and police today arrested a Naxalite and unearthed a huge cache of fire arms and explosives hidden deep in the forest areas in Udupi and this district.
Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range) Satyanarayana Rao told reporters at Thirthahalli here that the arrested, identified as Krishna (28) of Korankote village, led the police team to arms dumps in the two districts in the border areas near the town.
He revealed that a 30-member group of Naxals was active in these areas.
He was an active member of the Naxal group, which was operating in the forest areas bordering Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Udupi, he said.
The Naxalite said the arms dump had been hidden at Kabbinhale, Narasimha Parvata, Tannirbavi of Karkala taluk in Udupi district and forests of Teerthalli taluk.
The dump included more than 2,000 rounds of live ammunition, a .303 rifle, some other fire arms, a grenade, a large amount of explosives, 80 detonators, an electronic printer, Naxal literature, books and uniform.
