Ahmedabad, Jul 29 (UNI) The planting of ''pressure bombs'' in Surat today had definitely given time to bomb disposal squad to defuse them and thus avert large number of casualties there as compared to 'timer-device bombs' used in the city on Saturday, said an expert.

An FSL expert, who refused to be identified, told UNI, ''Plantating of 'Pressure Bombs' in Surat, also known as the diamond city, today proved lucky for Surtis (citizens of Surat) compared to 'timer-device bombs' used in Ahmedabad.'' The FSL expert further said ''if the militants had used 'timer-device bombs' as done in Ahmedabad that claimed 49 lives so far, then Surat too would have been bleeding equally.'' Another difference was that in Ahmedabad the bombs were kept inside tiffins and cars, while in Surat they were wrapped in a green-coloured plastic, the expert said, adding, green colour was considered pious in Islam.

''The wrapping of bombs in green-coloured plastics could also be a hidden message, which we are trying to interpret'', an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer said.

Ahmedabad Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashish Bhatia, the blasts investigation Chief, said, ''Crime Branch sleuths are also exploring the possiblity why two different bombs were being used by the militant group.

The JCP admitted that the pressure bombs gave time to bomb defusal squads to defuse them, which was not in the case of Ahmedabad blasts.

However, the modus operandi indicated that a particular group was behind the bomb blasts in both cities, Mr Bhatia said with firmness.

Ten teams, comprising 150 officials, of CID were involved in tracking down the mastermind behind the blasts, he added.
