Glaxosmithkline Pharma NP high at Rs 114.8 cr for Q1

Mumbai, Jul 28 (UNI) GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Limited has posted a net profit of Rs 114.8 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, whereas the same was at Rs 96.4 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007.

Total Income was Rs 442.8 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008, where as the same was at Rs 415.1 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2007, the Company release said.

The growth in Net Sales (net of excise and excluding the Fine Chemicals business) was 11.2 per cent, during the quarter ended June 30, 2008. The growth in Gross Sales (excluding the Fine Chemicals business) during the quarter ended June 30, 2008 was affected due to lower selling prices, as a result of the excise benefit passed on to the consumer. Profit before Tax and Exceptional items grew by 19.2 per cent, during the quarter on a comparable basis.

The figures for the current period are not comparable with those of the previous period, in view of the sale of the Fine Chemicals business on September 30, 2007, the release said.
