Cuban Embassy celebrates 50th year of Revolution.
New Delhi, Jul 26 (UNI) Cuban Ambassador to India, Miguel Angel Ramirez Ramos, today expressed gratitude to India for helping his country in difficult times by sending wheat and rice and said the gesture had become part of Cuba's history.
The Ambassador who was speaking at a function here to celebrate the 50th year of the Cuban revolution, criticised the US for making their lives ''difficult.'' However, today, he said, Cuba has eradicated illiteracy and there were now more than 75,000 doctors in the country. The country was now working on improving education, health and housing etc.
CPM leader Ms Brinda Karat who was also present, said there was only 0.5 per cent malnutrition among children in Cuba.
The Ambassdor of Palestine to India also attended and said Cuba sponsored 100 Palestanian students every year in the fields of Medical and Engineering.
