9000 new houses to be constructed for slum dwellers under JNNURM
Kolkata, Jul 26 (UNI) Kolkata Municipal Corporation has undertaken a project to build 9000 houses at a cost of Rs 141 crore under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for rehabilitating slum dwellers.
Commissioner of Kolkata Municipal Corporation Alapan Bandopadhaya said during an interaction with Merchants' Chamber of Commerce members here today.
He also informed that 35 per cent of the project cost would be borne by the Centre.
It would improve the environment and quality of life in the city, he said, adding the project would be a joint-venture to be carried out by Mackintosh Burn.
