Woman gives poison to 3 daughters, commits suicide

Dharwad, Karnataka, July 24 (UNI) A woman allegedly committed suicide after administering poison to her three daughters, one of whom died at a hospital later, at Mumigatti, near here, today.

Police said Kavita Chavan forced her three daughters to drink the poison before taking it herself.

While, her 18-month old daughter Prema died at the Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences at Hubli, the other two were in a serious condition.

The reason for the extreme step taken by Kavita was yet to be ascertained, police said.

Kavita's husband runs a small canteen on the national highway near here, they said.
