One J D (S) MP votes in favour of confidence vote

New Delhi, Jul 22 (UNI) One Lok Sabha member of the Janata Dal (Secular) is understood to have defied the party whip to vote against the confidence motion in the Lok Sabha.

Party sources not wishing to be named said one MP had defied the three-line whip asking all the three MPs to cast their votes against the confidence motion moved by the Prime Minister.

The party has three MPs in the Lok Sabha, former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, M P Veerendra Kumar and Mr Shivanna.

Mr Gowda had made his announcement to vote against the BJP and after the announcement Mr Kumar, an MP from Kerala had also announced his intentions to vote against the confidence motion.

Thus, the needle of suspicion points to Mr Shivanna, the MP from Chamaraja Nagar in southern Karnataka.
