Mizo juice to hit Guwahati market

Aizawl, Jul 19 (UNI) The first consignment of Mizoram's passion-fruit juice was flagged off by Mizoram Food and Allied Industries Corporation Ltd (MIFCO) Chairman and MLA D Thangliana here today.

A truck loaded with 15,000 bottles of the fruit juice left for Guwahati market.

Mainly grown in Chhingchhip area in eastern Mizoram, it is processed for export at food processing plant in Sairang near here, official sources said.

MIFCO has signed a memorandum of understanding with Guwahati-based Green Cover Overseas for export of Mizoram's passion fruit juice, sources said adding MIFCO officials hope to export 5,00,000 bottles of fruit juice, dubbed by Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga as the blue gold of the state, within this year.
