I am still with BSP, vote on directions of Mayawati: Umakant

Farrukhabad/Lucknow, July 16 (UNI) Denying any connections with the opposition Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) jailed MP Umakant Yadav today said he was still with his party and caste vote during the UPA's Floor Test on the directions of BSP president Mayawati.

Umakant was brought from Fatehgarh central jail in Farrukhabad and admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in Lucknow, following complaint of chest pain.

The BSP MP was behind the bars over a land encroachment case.

''Neither do I have any connections with the SP, nor would have in the future,'' he clarified.

''I am still with the BSP and vote as per the wish of Ms Mayawati during the confidence vote in Parliament on July 22,'' Umakant added.

According to reports, UP Public Works Department minister Nassemuddin Siddiqui had met the jailed MP in Farrukhabad yesterday.
