Both houses condole death of eminent personalities

Mumbai, Jul 16 (UNI) Both the houses of Maharashtra legislature today condoled the death of field marshal Sam Maneckshaw, former Supreme court Chief Justice Y V Chandrachud, Maharashtra Bhushan Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari, veteran playwright Vijay Tendulkar, Gandhian Nirmala Deshpande, former minister Tarabai Vartak, former MLA and MP G M Banatwala and former MP Kacharubhau Raut.

The condolence motion was tabled by chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh in the assembly and by deputy chief minister R R Patil in the council.

Leaders of the opposition Ramdas Kadam and Pandurang Phundkar supported the motion.

Members from treasury and opposition benches paid rich tributes to all the eminent personalities. Speakers recalled the contributions of field marshal Sam Maneckshaw, Justice Chandrachud, Mr Dharmadhikari and Mr Tendulkar.
