Major tragedy averted, IED detected and defused in bus in Kashmir

Baramulla, Jul 9 (UNI) Security forces today thwarted a major tragedy when they detected and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in a passenger bus in north Kashmir.

Official sources said troops of 46 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) during a routine checking of vehicles detected a three kg IED in the bus on the way to this district from Handwara.

The passengers were immediately taken to safer place and the IED was defused.

The driver and the conductor were taken into custody and later handed over to police, they said.
