New constituent college for Anna University
Ariyalur, Jul 8: A 20-acre site has been identified at Kavanoor, near here for establishing the new constituent college of Anna University, Tiruchirapalli, Union Communication and Information Technology Minister A Raja has said.
Talking to newspersons here yesterday, he said facilities have been readied at the Ariyalur Government Arts College for holding the first-year classes and by the end of the year the construction work of the new buildings of the college would be completed.
Altogether 240 students (60 each in civil, mechanical, electronics and communication engineering and computer science and engineering) would be admitted during this academic year as per the assurance made in the Assembly by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.
Sixteen appointments have been made and they include a professor and two assistant professors for each branch, he said after inspecting the facilities created in the new buildings being constructed at a cost of Rs 55 lakh.
