82,885 provided employment in Jammu Kashmir
Srinagar, Jul 8: More than 82,000 unemployed youths were provided jobs in different government departments while 20,000 more were being recruited this month in Jammu and Kashmir.
An official spokesman said 82,885 youths were recruited in different government departments since 2003 in the state.
Of these the highest number of 31,197 were recruited under Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) scheme to provide education to children in their respective areas.
He said Public Service Commission and State Service Selection Board has also made selection of 12,683.
The Spokesman said the other recruitments made during the past five years included Contractual under SRO-255 of 2003, 7381, Police 5806, SPOs 3751, Rehbar-e-Ziraat 3227, Anganwari workers and Helpers 12620, SRO -43, 3159, Appointment of Sports Persons 102, Health department 460, Universities 1000 and Jammu and Kashmir bank 1500.
He said in order to address the issue of unemployment in the state a special fast track recruitment drive has been launched to fill more than 20,000 vacancies in different government departments.
The recruitment drive will be completed during this month, he said.
He said since a number of youths had crossed the age limit, the government had increased the upper limit for entry in government jobs.
For Open category the age limit was increased from 35 to 37 years, SC/ST from 38 to 40 years, physically challenged from 37 to 39 years, RBA/LAC from 37 to 40 years and Social caste from 37 to 40 years.
