Haryana to give scholarship to wards of ex-servicemen

Chandigarh, Jul 7 (UNI) The children of ex-servicemen and widows of servicemen in Haryana, who are pursuing any professional degree courses, will be given scholarship at a rate of Rs 15000 to boys and Rs 18000 to girls per annum under a centrally sponsored scheme.

Stating this here today, an official spokesman said under the Defence Minister Discretionary Fund Scheme, the children of ex-servicemen studying up to 12th class would be given scholarship amount of Rs 200 per month to boys and Rs 400 to girls.

The girls studying at graduation level would be given Rs 600 per month. Apart from this, the children of ex-servicemen getting training at NDA and IMA would be given a grant of Rs 1000.

He said that under the same scheme, the ex-servicemen and widows of servicemen would be given a grant of Rs 16000 at the time of wedding of their daughter.

He said the ex-servicemen and the widows of servicemen above the age of 75 would be given Rs 500 per month and the same amount would also be given to those who had attained the age of 70 and residing at Old Age Home. The orphan children of ex-servicemen would also be given Rs 500 per month.

He said the orphan daughters of ex-servicemen would be given Rs 1000 per month till the age of 21 years. Similarly the ex-servicemen living in a condition of extreme penury would also be given emergency grant of Rs 30,000 in a single installment and the poor widows of the servicemen and disabled servicemen would be given Rs 20000 for the repair of the house.
