SAIL achieves 36 pc growth in June 2008
Shimoga (Karnataka), Jul 4 : Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has achieved a 36 per cent growth in June 2008 with sales being 1.11 million tones.
During first quarter ending June 30 the total sales stood at 2.65 million tones, according to a press release here today. SAIL has produced a million tones of products during Q1, which is highest ever for any quarter, up by 41 per cent. This included 1.93 lakh tones of 90-UTS rails for the Indian Railways. Sales of TMT bars and HR coils have been 74 per cent and 20 per cent higher in June 2008.
SAIL has also registered highest ever Q-1 sales of special quality steels with an overall growth of 49 per cent. Orders from the Indian Navy were booked for DMR-249 grade A/B plates during the period, release added.
