Spice Communications withdraws petition against DoT
New Delhi, Jul 3 (UNI) Spice Communications Ltd today said it has withdrawn the petition filed in TDSAT against Department of Telecom (DoT) challenging the rejection of applications for grant of licenses.
During the proceedings of the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TFSAT), counsels appearing for Spice submitted their request to withdraw the suit, a company statement said.
Spice had challenged its rejection for licence by the DoT for 16 telecom circles.
The telecom firm, which has operations in Punjab and Karnataka, has been given licence for Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and Maharashtra.
Last month, Aditya Birla promoted Idea Cellular bought 40.8 per cent stake in Spice Communications for Rs 2,716 crore.
Following the acquisition it has made an open offer to shareholders of Spice for acquiring additional 20 per cent stake in the telecom services provider for about Rs 1,066.63 crore.
