BJP refutes SP claims of receiving offer of PM's post for Mulayam

New Delhi, Jul 2 (UNI) The BJP today described as 'pure imagination', the claims of Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh that the BJP had offered Prime Minister's post to former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in return for his support to the candidature of the then Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in the Presidential polls.

Asked regarding the claims of Mr Amar Singh to this effect, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said it was nothing but 'mangadanth kahani' without basis. The intention of making such claims was to divert the attention of the people from sudden change of attitude of Samajwadi Party in favour of Congress on the Indo-US nuclear deal.

The BJP, he maintained, had sought support of all sections of MPs for the Mr Shekhawat's success but offering Prime Minister's post to Mr Mulayam Singh in July 2007 as claimed by Mr Amar Singh.

''is nothing but a concoction and fabrication'', Mr Javadekar said.
