42 pairs of trains cancelled in ECoR till July 3
Bhubaneswar, Jun 30 (UNI) Nearly 42 pairs of trains, cancelled till June 30 following breaches between Bakhrabad-Narayangarh-Contai Road in Balasore-Kharagpur section under South Eastern Railway, would remain cancelled till July three.
According to East Coast Railways (ECoR) sources, the Ministry of Railways after necessary inspection of the damaged tracks decided to extend the cancellation, diversion and short-termination of trains from today till July three next.
Incessant rain in northern Orissa and West Bengal, which caused flash floods in northern Orissa, had damaged vast track besides a railway bridge paralysing train services between Howrah and Chennai line since June 17.
The South Eastern Railways and the ECoR had been forced to divert some important long distance trains from Howrah to Southern states via Cuttack, Angul, Sambalpur and Vizianagaram.
Sources said further decision on resumption of train services would be communicated after reviewing the situation.
