Submission of Creamy layer report deferred

New Delhi, Jun 26 (UNI) The submission of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) Report on the income limit for determining creamy layer which was slated for today has now been deferred.

The Report was to be submitted to Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Meira Kumar this afternoon. However, the Minister was not available today due to the current developments, the Commission has been told by the Ministry.

Sources said the Report was now expected to be submitted on July 1.

It is understood that the Commission has recommended an income limit of Rs 4 to 6 lakh for determination of the creamy layer which is to be excluded from the benefit of reservatioin for the Other Backward Clases (OBCs).

The existing ceiling is at Rs 2.5 lakh per year.

The Commission had been asked by the Government to give its final views on the issue by the end of this month.
