NSCN-IM attacks NSCN/GPRN's Vihokhu camp
Kohima, Jun 26: The NSCN-IM has reportedly been attacking the Vihokhu camp of the NSCN/GPRN under Niuland Sub-Division in Dimapur district since last night, which restarted this morning, even as the district administration is trying its best to stop the inter-factional clashes.
Official sources said there was no report of any casualty so far, but heavy firing from both the sides was continuing since 2030 hrs last night.
The Vihokhu camp is the main camp of NSCN/GPRN, which was being reportedly attacked from four sides by the NSCN-IM cadres and they had entered into the periphery of the camp, but were unable to proceed further due to stiff resistance from inside the Vihokhu camp, resulting in heavy exchange of firing.
The district administration officials, along with personnel from Assam Rifles and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), reached Vihokhu village just after receiving the information for the protection of the civilians, but the battle was continuing in the deep jungles of the village and the personnel were unable to proceed to the spot of fighting due to heavy fire exchange.
However, unofficial sources said there were some casualties from both the factions of the NSCN, but it could not be confirmed officially.
The reports further said reinforcement from both the sides was also proceeding to the site of gun battle.
