Truck owners urge CM to ensure availability of ordinary petrol

Chennai, June 25 (UNI) The Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur Tanker, Tipper and Van Owners Association today urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to ensure availability of ordinary petrol and diesel in pumping stations in the state.

In a letter to the Chief Minister, Association President R Sukumar said eversince the Centre hiked the fuel prices on June five, most of the oil companies stopped supply of ordinary petrol and diesel, adding to the woes of the public.

In the stand off between the public sector oil companies and petrol bunk dealers, consumers were forced to buy only premium petrol and diesel, paying Rs three to five more, in addition to the increase in prices of petrol and diesel, he said.

The Chief Minister should immediately intervene in the matter and put an end to the agony of the general public, farmers and truck owners and ensure availability of ordinary petrol and diesel, Mr Sukumar said.
