Lokayukta Bill to be tabled in Assembly soon
Agartala, Jun 22: As part of transparency management and to check corruption among the people's representatives, the Tripura Cabinet has approved the draft of Lokayukta Bill, 2008, for tabling in the current Assembly session.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said here today that the draft of the Bill was approved in the meeting of the Council of Ministers last week.
If the Bill is passed, a committee would be formed which would examine charges of corruption against any of the people's representatives ranging from a Panchayat member to the Chief Minister and suggest measures to punish them.
Official sources said after tabling the Bill in the second phase of the Assembly session to begin on June 24, the Bill might be referred to the subject committee.
