Teen kidnaps girl for ransom, murders her
Madurai, Jun 14 (UNI) A six-year-old-girl who was kidnapped for a ransom of Rs ten lakh was murdered by her abductor and the body thrown in Sathuragiri Hill near Srivilliputhur in neighbouring Virudhunagar district of the state.
Police sources said M Viji, daughter of a land broker from Moonur Village in this district, went missing after she went to school on June 9.
On a complaint from her parents, police registered a case and launched a search for the girl.
The girl's parents received an anonymous telephone call from a stranger who demanded a ransom of Rs ten lakh for the girl's release. Police traced the call to Srivilliputhur. After exhaustive investigation, Prabhu, a teenager, was arrested last evening. He confessed to the crime.
A police team rushed to the hill and retrieved the body today.
Further investigations were on, police added.
