Anand Sen surrenders after intensive search by police
Lucknow, June 14 (UNI) Anand Sen, former Uttar Pradesh minister and ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA, who was absconding after a Faizabad court issued a non-bailable warrant against him over the infamous Shashi murder case, surrendered this evening at the Ghazipur police station of the state capital.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Subhash Dubey told UNI that ''Anand has been handed over to Faizabad police, where this case had been originally registered.'' Now, Anand would be produced before a Faizabad's court. The former minister's father, Mitra Sen Yadav, a BSP Member of Parliament, was also present at the time of his surrender, the ASP added.
Anand was on the run after a local court of Faizabad issued a non-bailable warrant against him in connection with the sensational abduction and murder of a college girl Shashi in October last.
Police had speeded up investigation against Anand after the arrest of accused Seema Azad and Vijay, the ex-minister driver.
Anand is the second ruling party MLA, who has police after him in a criminal case.
