Congress leader murdered, 12-hour bandh called in Malda tomorrow

Malda, Jun 13 (UNI) Congress Leader and Vice-Chairman of the Englishbazar Municipality Biswanath Guha was murdered at his residence at Gangabag in the district.

Malda Superintendent of Police Satyajit Banerjee said here today that the Congress leader was murdered around midnight last night after he had returned home after attending a social meeting.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the victim had received fatal blow from an iron rod on his head, the SP said, adding that the body had been sent for post-mortem.

However, the SP refused to divulge further details.

Meanwhile, the Congress supporters called for a 12-hour bandh in Malda district tomorrow in protest against the incident.
