Villager attempts suicide outside DCs office
Amritsar, June 12 (UNI) A 30-year-old man attempted to committ suicide outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner here this evening.
According to police sources, Gurdit Singh, a resident of Kot Manna Singh village, who was drenched in kerosene, attempted to immolate himself. However, the gunmen of the Deputy Commissioner were quick to react and aborted the attempt.
Deputy Commissioner K S Pannu immediately called Gurdit Singh to his office and inquired about his woes. He told the district head that his in-laws were harassing him and he had failed to get justice despite registering his complaint at different quarters.
Mr Pannu assured the villager that he would personally look into his complaint.
