22-year-old youth held for raping minor girl
Mumbai, Jun 12 (UNI) The Railway Police today arrested a 22-year-old youth for allegedly raping a minor girl for four months by giving her a false assurance of marriage.
Senior inspector Shashank Shinde of Chhatapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) Railway Police said few months ago a 15-year-old minor girl came to the city from West Bengal, after having a fight with her parents over new clothes on the occassion of Id last year.
While roaming on the platform of the CST she met Mohamed Rafik Shaikh, who became friendly with her. He took her at his friend's residence at Diwa in neighbouring Thane district.
Inspector Shinde said Shaikh gave false assurance of marriage and started abusing her sexually.
He said Shaikh suddenly stopped visiting Diwa. Then the victim came to CST and lodged a complaint against him.
After a detailed probe Shaikh was arrested and produced before a local court, which remanded him to police custody till June 20.
The girl was sent to remand home after a medical examination, the Inspector added.
