Even Afzal doesn't have faith in UPA's decision making ability: BJ

New Delhi, Jun 9 (UNI) Accusing the UPA Government of practicing duplicity in its words and deeds, the BJP today said the duplicity of the Congress led UPA was such that even Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal did not seem to have faith in sincerity of Congress and its ability to take decisions.

Referring to the interview of Afzal with a news agency where he had poured his heart out against the duplicity of Congress, BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy said the indecision of the ruling coalition on his clemency petition had put off Afzal.

If the Government is sincere, it should take a decision on his clemency petition without losing time. "They should either grant him clemency or implement the orders of the Supreme Court without caring for the vote bank concerns", he said.

The Home Minister, he said attempted to link Afzal's case with Sarabjit's case where Pakistan was seeking to hang the latter in a case of mistaken identity. Sarabjit's wife too had stated that she would not want her husband alive if he were to be equated and compared with Mohammad Afzal, who was found guilty of attempt to subversion of democracy.

The families of security personnel who had laid down their lives on the fateful day had retured the medals to the government recognising their brave deeds, he said.
