Orissa bandh on June 6 to protest oil price hike
Bhubaneswar,Jun 5 (UNI) Four political parties have jointly called an Orissa bandh tomorrow to protest the steep rise in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG.
The 12-hour bandh call has been given by CPI, CPI-M, Forward Block and Samajwadi Party.
The Centre yesterday had raised the prices of petrol by Rs 5, diesel by Rs 3 per litre and hiked the cost of LPG by Rs 50 per cylinder.
The hike has already triggered off strong protests from various sections of people while political parties held demonstrations against the hike.
The four parties apprehended that the rise in prices of petroleum products would further push up the prices of essential commodities and hit the common people most.
Meanwhile, the Orissa unit of SUCI today held a demonstration in the capital city to register their protest against the hike.
