'Member of weaker section should take over from KCR'
Hyderabad, June 3 (UNI) Welcoming the resignation of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekar Rao from the post, owning ''moral responsiblity'' for the party's poor performance in the byelections, dissident TRS Legislator M Satyanarayana Reddy today opined that the TRS executive should accept his resignation and make a member of the weaker section as the party President.
He told reporters here that people would construe as a ''big drama'' the resignation offer if TRS Executive Committee persisted with Mr Rao to continue to lead the party.
''It will be appropriate to make a member belonging to SC or ST or OBC community to lead the party,'' he felt.
Mr Reddy opined that Mr Rao himself was responsible for pushing the party into a crisis by thrusting ''unnecessary'' byelections on the people.
Describing it as the ''internal affair of the TRS'', State Finance Minister and Congress leader K Rosaiah told reporters here that Mr Rao had ''impatiently'' quit the Union Cabinet when the UPA Government was striving to evolve a consensus on statehood for Telangana. He alone was responsible for the present situation by forcing byelections on the people after winning the Karimnagar Lok Sabha bypoll earlier to prove that Telangana sentiment was very much there, he claimed.
