Nepal journos worried by Prachanda's anti-press freedom remarks
Kathmandu, May 31 (UNI) Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) today expressed dismay on the remarks made by the CPN-Maoist Chairman Prachanda yesterday regarding a prominent media house and called upon him to respect the press freedom.
''Such remarks of Maoist Chairman Prachanda have raised suspicion over the party's commitment towards safeguarding press freedom,'' FNJ President Dharmendra Jha said.
The umbrella organisation of Nepalese journalists, FNJ has also urged the Maoists, poised to head the next government, to make public the party's clear policy for free press.
Maoist Chairman Prachanda warned Kantipur Publications of serious consequences if it continued to criticise his party, while addressing a mass meeting organised by his party here yesterday.
