Sena demands adequate supply of fertilisers for farmers

Nashik, May 30 (UNI) Nashik district Shiv Sena workers held demonstrations before the district collectorate here today demanding adequate suplly of fertilisers to the farmers.

The agitation was led by Shiv Sena leaders Neelam Gorhe, Datta Gaikwad and Uttamrao Dhikle.

According to the Shiv Sena, Nashik district requires 331,000 tonnes of fertilisers but the state government provides only 86,000 tonnes of it to the farmers.

''The farmers are not getting even 50 per cent of the fertilsers that they requyire. If the government does not heed the demand, we will intensify the agitation,'' Dr Gorhe said while speaking on the occasion.

Besides, the Shiv Sena has demanded Rs 800 as the minimum support price for onions and prevention of fertilisers' black-marketing.

The Shiv Sena later presented a memorandum to district collector S Chokkalingam.
