Raj Govt concedes to Gujjar demand of postmortem by AIIMS team

Jaipur, May 30 (UNI) In a significant step, the Rajasthan Government has conceded to Gujjar Reservation Action Committee Convener Col (retd) Kirodi Singh Bainsla's demand of conducting postmortem of the firing victims by a team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS).

The decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting held at Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's Official residence here tonight, to review the situation in the wake of the Gujjar stir, ruling BJP state President Om Prakash Mathur told UNI.

Mr Mathur said the state government has accepted the demand of Col Bainsla in this regard and accordingly, the government was contemplating to write to the AIIMS authorities in this regard.

This step by the Government has removed the hurdle in postmortem and cremation of the bodies of the victims, which were lying at the dharna sites in Pillukapura-Karwadi and Sikandara and at two hospitals in Jaipur and Bharatpur.

This move has also brightened the chances of an early opening of talks between the Government and the agitating Gujjar leaders over the Gujjar issue.

The talks are likely to take place later tonight, Mr Mathur hinted.
