Female Tourist from Hyderabad drowns in Kashmir

Srinagar May 29 (UNI) A woman tourist from Hyderabad drowned when she was rafting in in river Lidder in Pahalgam in south Kashmir district of Anantnag, official sources said today.

They said a rafting boat carrying some tourists in river Lidder overturned near Yanner, resulting in injuries to five tourists.

However, rescue teams immediately pulled out the tourists from the water which was flowing very fast following heavy rains in the area previous night.

The injured were admitted to hospital where one Sharda Wife of Sri Nivasan a resident of Hyderabad died.

This was the first casualty since the rafting was introduced in Lidder during the past three years.
