Two LeT top commander and a woman killed, soldier injured in J

Srinagar, May 28 (UNI) Two top commanders of Pakistan based Lashker- e-Toiba (LeT) and a woman were killed and a soldier was injured in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

They said security forces conducted a search operation at village Bumhama in the frontier district of Kupwara today following a tip off about the presence of militants there.

During the operation an encounter ensued in which a LeT commander was killed.

One AK rifle, one pistol, three magzines,70 rounds of ammunition, one wireless set, one IED battery, one IED divert junction, Rs 2000 and Pak currency Rs 1700 were recovered from the slain militant.

An official spokesman said an encounter ensued during a search operation at village Lutna Gundna in Doda district of Jammu region today.

He said a self styled District Commander of LeT Shabir Ahmad alias Yasir was killed. One woman Samreena Bano also died in the exchange of fire, he said, adding the woman was missing from her house since May 13.

He said Samreena might have married Shabir. One AK rifle and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain commander.

A soldier was injured during an encounter with militants at Takri in Keran sector near the Line of Control (LoC). The militants later managed to escape, he said, adding the injured was hospitalised.
