Orissa govt., to bear medical expenses of Kalpana

Bhubaneswar, May 28 (UNI) The Orissa government has deciced to bear all the medical expenses of Kalpana Das, the first Oriya woman to have climbed the Mount Everest.

Kalpana unfurled national tri-colour atop the World's highest peak on May 21.

She, however, fell ill at the base camp on May 25 and was rushed to a hospital in Kathmandu where she had been undergoing treatment in the ICU since.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today gave a direction asking the concerned departments to act immediately so that money should not come in the way of her proper treatment.
