Freedom Fighter Kamlapati Tiwari passes away
Jaunpur, May 26 (UNI) Freedom Fighter Pandit Kamlapati Tiwari passed away today at his residence in Sikrara area in this district of Uttar Pradesh.
He was 101.
As a student, he was impressed by the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and got motivated to be a part of the freedom struggle.
He followed the path of 'ahimsa' and was a hardcore Gandhian.
He actively participated in the 'Quit India Movement' and went to jail twice to get 'Bharata Mata' free from the clutches of Britishers.
He was cremated with full state honour in the holy city Varanasi.
A large number of people, including politicians, advocates, freedom fighters, journalists, were present at his funeral.
