BJP-JD(U) would have got majority if contested together in Karnataka

Patna, May 26 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today claimed that the BJP-JD(U) alliance would not only have crossed the majority mark on its own in Karnataka but also grabbed 15 more seats if both political parties had contested the Assembly elections together.

Mr Kumar told newspersons after the Janta Durbar at his official residence here that on the basis of the reports received from Karntaka, the JD(U) stood second in 15 seats and the results would have been better if the alliance between the two parties had materialised during the Assembly elections there.

He, however, maintained that the alliance between the JD(U) and BJP would be smooth in five states, including Bihar and Jharkhand, for the next Lok Sabha elections and informed that he had a long discussion on the issue with JD(U) president Sharad Yadav and BJP leader L K Advani in New Delhi yesterday.
